The research project of “Identification of Kerman Province Fishes" was carried out from 1996 to 1997. In this study, the fishes of the main rivers of this province, namely: Baft, Soltani, Halil-rood, Delfa-rood, Seyyed-Morteza, Rabor, Roodbar and Halil-kouchak were identified. During one year sampling from above mentioned rivers, a total or 771 samples were collected which they belong to 2 orders, 3 families and 7 species. The identification fishes were: Capoeta damascina, Cyprinion watsoni, Garra persica, Carassius auratus, Cyprinus carpio from CYPRINIDAE family. Nemacheilus sargadensis from COBITIDAE family and Channa gachua from CHANNIDAE family.

Shrimp aquaculture industry have started in coastal waters of Persian Gulf since 1994. This industry will race restrictions of aquaculture problems on environment, therefore studies on these probable problems are necessary for development or aquaculture in this region. This survey was carried out in Helle region to understand effects of aquaculture industry on coastal waters of Bushehr, in 1998. The variations of selected water quality parameters in influent water, effluent water and at sea were controlled monthly. The results show that the quality of water in effluent canal was more than other stations every month, variations of some important parameters of this station are as follows: Ammonia (0.06-0.30 mg/lit), Nitrate (0.29-1.96 mg/lit), Phosphate (0.009- 0.038 mg/lit), Nitrite (0.006-0.010mg/lit). Comparison of above data with permitable range of municipal and aquaculture waste and comparing the present data with data of normal condition or region, showed that aquaculture industry of Helle region have not had any obvious negative effect on coastal waters of Bushehr.

Dissolved oxygen and transparency are two main factors in management of shrimp culture. In this regard, three Indian white shrimp culture farms in Tiab region were selected and in each farm three ponds were studied randomly. Dissolved oxygen samples were collected two times per day (morning and evening) from surface and maximum depth of the ponds. The transparency of water was measured by secchi-disk daily, at 15:00 P.M. The Results showed that amount of dissolved oxygen in afternoon samples more than 3.5 mg/lit which is suitable for growth of shrimp but in morning time samples the level of Dissolved oxygen were unsuitable especially in ponds which were not equipped with any aerator. Also, the long-arm aerators showed higher and better efficiency than short-arm aerators. From point of transparency, the results showed that in the beginning of culture period, the transparency was high (more than 100 cm) and gradually decreased.

Considering the reduction of valuable commercial fish in Anzali lagoon during last decades and presence of the silver crucian carp with high frequency; the research project or 'Biological aspects and population dynamics or Carassius auratus" was designed. The study area was stratified to four regions (Abknar, Siah-keshim, Markazi and Sheyjan). Sampling were carried out bi-weekly by using electro-shocker. The mean fork length and mean weight for both sexes were measured 19.5±5.8 cm, and 196.8±137.4 g respectively. Also, the mean age was estimated 2.6±1.3 years (n=750) and minimum and maximum fork length were measured 2.5 and 31.5 cm respectively. The mean length, weight and the age of silver crucian carp in Siah-keshim region were higher than the other regions. The spawning season of this species was found from May to June. The results showed a sex ratio of F:M=99.3:0.7. Some calculated population parameters were as follows: exploitation rate = 0.47, L∞ = 36.0 cm and K = 0.23 per year.

Sex and maturity determination of live fishes without external sexual dimorphism or when there is no developed external characters is very important from different species. In this regard, the ultrasonography methods was used to determine sex and maturity of Persian sturgeon (Acipenser persicus). 142 collected samples of live fishes of this species (with an age range of 13-20 years) from Caspian Sea were preserved in water tanks and scanned under 5.0 and 7.5 MHZ linear pie medical transducer. Frontal view of right or left lateral side of each fish between pectoral and anal fins were obtained echogenicity and morphologic ultrasonographic findings were studied for evaluating the difference between testis and ovary and their maturity Status. The results obtained from ultrasonography were confirmed by further necropsy examinations. The ultrasonographic accuracy for sex and maturity determination were 100% and 98.6%, respectively. It can be recommended this method can be used with an accurate method to determine sex and maturity of Persian Sturgeon.

The karyology of bream (Abramis brama) were done for the first time in Iran. This study was conducted on chromosomal number, chromosome arms and karyotyping of bream from the -Southern part of the Caspian Sea with preparing chromosomal extensions on the base of Squash method. The number of metaphase plates using Squash method on renal and gill tissues was determined as to be 2n=50 and the number of chromosome arms was NF=82. The prepared karyotype of this species was consisted of 8 pairs of metacentric, 8 pairs of submetacentric and 9 pairs of acrocentric chromosomes.

High mortality rate of rainbow trout was observed in one of the Kermanshah province rainbow trout farms in July, 2000. This mortality mostly occured infishes with 100-200g weight. Some symptoms such as inappetition, skin darkening, aggregation offishes in inlets and outlets of ponds and swimming near the surface were observed amongst most of fishes. 20 samples were collected from different ponds randomly and transferred to laboratory for further examinations. Gas bubble were observed on skin, fins and operculum of all studied fishes. This symptom was observed in mouth of only 10% of them. Also, in or studied samples, the unilateral or bilateral exophthalmia was Observed. Also, strong plants growing in water from spring to the farm was observed in which these plants caused a high fluctuations in amount of O2 and CO2 of pond's waters during day and night time.
