Survey on population size structure and density of Pinctada radiata in Iranian coast of the Persian Gulf
Population size structure and density of pearl oyster Pinctada radiata were surveyed in major pearl oyster beds along the Iranian coast of the Persian Gulf. The population in Nakhiloo was composed mainly of large individuals (> 70 mm in dorsoventeral measurement of DVM) with a density of 36±32.4 shell/m2 , Teecy & Lazeh, however, revealed a size structure in which small individuals (<50 mm DVM) were dominated. The density of shells in Teecy & Lazeh were 59.2±15.45 and 16±41.46 per m2 receptively. Possible reasons for the observed pattern of population size structure were discussed......

Survey on Macro-Zoobenthic resource in Seyahdarvishan and Passikhan Rivers, Potamon Zone (Quantitative)
The Rivers Seyahdarvishan and Passikhan are the main two rivers which evacuate water to Anzali coastal lagoon. The two rivers has sustain flow in potamon zone with only variations in rate during spring and autumn season. The existence of bivalve Corbicula and the aquatic insect Ephemeroptera in benthic composition indicate good environmental condition being prevailed during one year research programme conducted in 1993. Furthermore, finding of fishes Alburnoides bipunctatus and Caspiomyzom wagneri showed the Rivers had sound water quality. The average standing stock of macrozoobenthic in the study area, the potamon zone estimated 961±450(9.5g) and 546±254(5.4g) per sq.m. respectively, Therefore, the fish-yield in the study area in relationship with benthic biomass represent low natural productivity. These benthic trophy level probably could support 30-40 kg and 20-30 kg per hectare of fishes in Seyahdarvishan and Passikhan potamon zone respectively. Low bottom dwelling fishes is an ev.....

Feeding behaviour of lantern fishes
During the project of "Stock assessment of mesopelagic resources with Acoustic method", the feeding of lantern fishes was studied and it was found out that they are specified zoophagues. The most abundant of their stomach contents contain Copepods and Ostracods and with less important, the other stomach contents were Brachyuran larvae, Tintinnids, polychaeta, chaetognatha, Appendicularia, lamellibranchia, shrimp's larvae, different lchthioplanktons, crustacean appendages, juvenile squids and some other unidentified zooplanktons. The Diatoms (as a random food) were rarely found in their stomachs. Also, small and juvenile lantern fishes formed a part of their stomach contents and it proved the cannibalism behaviour of this fish. This behaviour occurs mostly during daytime but the main time of myctophid's feeding occurs during night time......

Usage of potassium sorbate in Caviar processing
In this project various amounts of potassium sorbate were employed to prows of 144 cans of Sevruga Caviar grade 1 & 2 with the ultimate of preserving temperature (-2,-3 ºC) to modify the quality of the product during 1 year of research period (1992-1993). 100 samples of Caviar were drawn at one month interval during 6 months to evaluate the quality changes or Caviar in comparison with the blank Changes in total bacterial count, pheochrophilic bacteria, coliforms, Fungi. staphilococ aureus, E-coli, Cl, Perfringens, Salmonella, total volatile nitrogen, Peroxide value, PH, Nacl%, Potassium sorbate%, Colour, Odour, taste and stability of Caviar were determined. The study indicates that the quality of Caviar with Potassium Sorbate was significantly different from Caviar without perservates, Caviar with 2000 P.P.M potassium sorbate had the better quality......

Morphometric and meristic characteristics of Sobur Tenualosa ilisha (Ham. Buch 1922) in Bahmanshir River – Khuzestan – IRAN
Among 41 morphometric and meristic parameters of sobur studied in Bahmanshir River, the number of pre-pelvic, post-pelvic and total scutes were 30-32, 16-18 and 13-15 respectively. The coefficient rate between head length and caudal peduncle to standard length were found to be 28% and 23% respectively. The five parameters mentioned above are in agreement with Tenualosa ilisha species. According to this survey there are great differences between Bahmanshir river sobur and those have been surveyed in Bangladesh and Indian water resources based on the morphometric and meristic characteristics. We found that all the morphometric characters have high correlation with total length......
